The Hungarian State Opera House, designed by Miklós Ybl and opened in 1884, is one of the most beautiful opera houses in Europe. After a long restoration it reopened in 2022, its gilded auditorium and grand staircase gleaming. Take a guided tour by day, or better still, see a performance.
