About Hungarian National Museum
The Hungarian National Museum was founded in 1802, and its neoclassical building on Múzeum körút was completed in 1847. Its galleries tell the story of Hungary from prehistory to modern times, and its steps are where, according to tradition, the poet Sándor Petőfi recited his National Song on 15 March 1848.
