The musical fountain on Margaret Island

Neighbourhood guide · Budapest, Hungary

Margaret Island

A long, green island in the middle of the Danube: gardens, ruins, a running track, the musical fountain and the Palatinus pools, with leafy Újlipótváros nearby.

About Margaret Island

Margaret Island stretches for about two and a half kilometres between Margaret Bridge and Árpád Bridge. It is almost car-free, with gardens, shady paths, the ruins of a medieval convent and a popular running track.

In summer, the Palatinus pools and the musical fountain draw crowds. On the Pest side, the leafy residential district of Újlipótváros has relaxed cafés and restaurants.
